EDCI 270P Introduction to Educational Technology (2 Credits)
Instructor: Professor Tim Newby
June 12 - August 4, 2006  AND  August 21 ? December 16, 2006
This course focuses on how technology can be used to impact learning in an effective, efficient, and appealing manner. It has been designed to give students experience using technology tools to design and create instructional materials for all types of learners, in various educational settings. In addition, it offers opportunities for students to use technology to effectively implement and evaluate their instructional materials. Student projects include the development of paper-based productions, computer tutorials, and Web-based learning experiences.

EDCI 502P Reading in Middle and Secondary Schools (3 Credits)
Instructor: Professor Lisa Schade Eckert
Maymester: May 16 - June 10, 2006
This course is designed for teachers and prospective teachers in subject matter areas of the junior and senior high schools. The course surveys techniques and objectives of reading instruction in the schools with special attention to the opportunities and obligations to teach reading within content areas.

EDCI 589G / 589P Developing Project-Based Learning with Technology (3 Credits)
Instructor: Ann Barnes
June 12 - August 4, 2006
In this course you'll learn how to develop your own multi-media presentations for presenting content information to students and parents. You'll also learn ways to assess student-created technology projects and how to develop technology projects for students to create using word processing and multi-media software.

EDCI 589I / 589P Integrating and Managing Technology into the Classroom (3 Credits)
Instructor: Ann Barnes
June 12 - August 4, 2006
In this course, you'll learn methods of integrating technology into the classroom by designing lesson plans that use computers as learning, publishing, and cooperative learning centers. Additionally, you'll learn strategies for incorporating content-related lessons using technology into the curriculum, while developing basic computer and software-specific skills in a technology classroom. You'll also learn how to develop a lesson supported by Internet sites.

EDPS 590 D Readings in Gifted Education (3 Credits)
Instructor: Marcia Gentry
June 25 - August 4, 2006
In this course, participants will explore essential and timely readings in gifted education. As a result of these readings, participants will develop educational projects tailored to their individual circumstances that will address the development of gifts and talents among students.
