Shawna Green

"Shawna" in her own words:

Hi.  My name is Shawna Green and I am from Des Moines, Iowa.  I earned by bachelor’s degree in English at Central College in small town Pella, Iowa, but I also had the opportunity to study in London, England.  My first teaching experiences were in residential facilities for ajudicated boys in California and Iowa.  While these positions were difficult and often heartbreaking, I came to appreciate the impact a teacher can have on her students as well as the necessity of doing so.

Currently, I teach Reading and Language Arts to eighth-graders at Hoyt Middle School.  I have a personal connection to Hoyt and in making it the best possible school as I am an alumnus of Hoyt.  I hope to return from the Ackerman Institute and institute a civic education program that will help each of my students become better citizens and better people.
