Information for Students

Prospective & Current Students

  • Teacher Education Programs offered at Purdue

  • Why Purdue University?
With 22 programs in teacher education to choose from at Purdue, students experience quality small classroom instruction for many of the core education courses despite the Big Ten size of our campus.  In addition, students have the opportunity, as early as their second semester of their first year, to visit local schools and observe student/teacher engagement. Having early "field experiences" such as this foster the ambition to continue with teacher education as their major. More facts >>

  • Why become a teacher?
Schools in the U.S. are experiencing a shortage of teachers, and the growth of ethnic and racially diverse student enrollment is creating a critical need for teachers who reflect the diversity in the classrooms. Furthermore, having more diverse teachers gives students positive role models in the community and inspires students to consider pursuing a career as a teacher.
