How to map your career account drive to your office or home PC

Your Purdue career account provides you with secure, private disk space to use for storing personal files and optionally publishing web pages.  You can access this disk space on both lab and non-lab PC computers, on and off campus.  For more information from ITaP see: http://www.itap.purdue.edu/tlt/careeraccount/

QUICK START

Users of Windows XP or newer can use the program found at the following URL to easily map a drive to their career account:

http://edit.education.purdue.edu/download/Map Career Account.exe

If you are off campus you'll FIRST need to connect to the Purdue VPN before you can gain access to your career account disk space.

STEPS FOR MANUALLY MAPPING THE DRIVE:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (can usually be found under Programs --> Accessories --> Windows Explorer)
                 

     
  2. Go to the Tools menu and select Map Network Drive... 
     

     
  3. Enter Server Name and LoginID needed to connect to the drive:  \\offcampus.ics.purdue.edu\YourLoginID   ( Macs should use: smb://offcampus.ics.purdue.edu )

AFTER MAPPING

Once you map your career account, you can use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to the L: drive (or whatever drive letter you used) and add/edit/delete files items just as you would do on your local hard drive or a flash drive. 
               

DISCONNECTING THE DRIVE

When you are finished using your career account mapped drive, your can un-map or disconnect it.

To disconnect the drive:

  1. Go to My Computer or Windows Explorer

  2. Right-click the career account drive and select "disconnect"
