Dear College of Education,
Purdue's password policy now states that most users who do NOT have access to sensitive or restricted data must change their password every 120 days. User with access to sensitive or restricted data must change their password every 30 days.
If you have not changed your Career Account password within the last 120 days, this is just a friendly reminder to do so. You can change your password using the “change your password” link near the bottom of the ITaP web site,
http://www.itap.purdue.edu/
Or you can use the following link,

For some exciting reading, the Purdue IT policy affecting passwords can be found here (see the “Password” section):
Authentication and Authorization Policy

Passwords (excerpt)
Campus electronic communications systems or services must identify users and authorize access by means of passwords or other secure Authentication processes (e.g. biometrics or smartcards).
Passwords are an important aspect of IT Resource security. They are often the first level of protection for user accounts. A poorly chosen password may result in the compromise of University IT Resources. All users of Purdue University IT Resources are responsible for taking appropriate steps, as outlined herein, to select and secure their passwords.
Authorized OVPIT staff may check the strength of passwords on a periodic or random basis. If a weak password is detected, the user will be required to change it.
Password Requirements:
- All passwords must be changed at least every thirty (30) days.
- Each successive password must be unique. Re-use of the same password will not be allowed for six password change cycles.
- Passwords must be a minimum of eight characters long.
- All passwords must conform to the standards for creating strong passwords located at: http://www.itap.purdue.edu/security/procedures/passguidelines.cfm.
- Centralized Authentication services will be used to automatically check, where technically possible, passwords based on the above standards at the time a user changes their password.
- Passwords must not be inserted into e-mail messages or other forms of electronic communication without the use of encryption.
- Passwords should never be written down and left in plain sight, or stored in plain text online. If a password must be written down, it should be locked up and stored in a place difficult for others to access.
- Passwords or accounts should never be shared with anyone, including trusted friends or family members. Account owners will be held responsible for any actions performed using their accounts. Purdue University IT staff will never ask users for their passwords.
