Hints for Students using TaskStream

So you're going to use TaskStream this year. That's great! However, there are some major TaskStream pitfalls that you'll want to avoid...things that could adversely affected your grades and/or peace of mind. For example, you'll REALY want to avoid putting off the following until finals week:

  1. Don't wait until finals week to sign up for your TaskStream account only to discover that there are sometimes problems with the sign-up process and you can't get in before an important (grade-bearing) deadline. Sign up for your account right away. Click here for information about how to get your account.

  2. Don't wait until finals week to log into TaskStream for the first time and realize that you cannot locate your course and/or instructor within TaskStream to turn in your artifact (and pass the course). If you do not see your major, course, or instructor email edit@purdue and we will be happy to help.

  3. Don't wait until finals week to try to upload a 500 MB video file only to discover that TaskStream will not accept a 500MB file!  Remember, you must compress video to Windows Media Video (.WMV) or QuickTime (.MOV) at about 100kbps or less so it can fit into TaskStream. Click here for hints about how to get video into TaskStream.

  4. Don't wait until finals week to upload your artifact only to realize that you don't actually know how to use TaskStream and you've missed your deadline because there was no time to learn how to use the system. Ask your instructor for help early in the semester.

Remember, the early bird gets the worm.  Or in this case, the grade!  Please sign up for, and log into, your TaskStream account right away to verify you have access to your courses and instructors.

If you have any questions, or if you need any help, please contact us at edit@purdue.edu. We are happy to guide you in the right direction and help you find the resources you need.
