Questions about Professional Organizations & Awards
Are there any professional organizations I may join as a student teacher? There are a number of organizations, such as the Purdue Student Education Association and the Purdue Student Education Council, you may join; the organizations and links to their websites are listed on the Student Organizations webpage. In addition, many professional teacher organizations, such as the National Council of Teachers of English, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the International Technology Education Association and the Council for Exceptional Children, offer memberships to students at discounted rates. Ask the faculty members in your program area for additional information about these organizations, or go to our list of professional organizations.
Are there any special honors or awards I may earn as a student teacher? Each spring, the College of Education nominates a number of student teachers for the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education Outstanding Future Educators Award. Your University Supervisor may recommend you for consideration.
