
Students in the teacher education program for Art or Physical Education students are enrolled in Purdue's College of Liberal Arts. Students in this program progress through Block I and Block II as well as methods courses that build upon each other and culminate in student teaching. Four strands are prevalent in these performance based courses throughout the teacher education program. These strands are technology, diversity, portfolio and theory into practice.

Purpose of Block I: To introduce the field of teaching by having the students examine issues from a teacher's perspective, and focus on how and why multiculturalism influences education.
