Due to the new visa regulations, you should allow for unexpected delays. In order to plan for these delays, you should allow at least four to six months after the date you are accepted into Purdue for the visa process. This means that you should have your application file complete at least four to six months before the immigration deadlines listed above; however, meeting the above deadlines will not guarantee that your visa will be processed in time to attend the session for which you are applying.
Note for Doctoral Applicants Who Already Hold a PhD
Although the Graduate School at Purdue usually does not admit students who hold a PhD degree from any institution to work on a second PhD degree, it recognizes that there may be special circumstances in which such an admission is appropriate. A request recommending doctoral admission for an individual who holds a PhD degree should be made to the dean of the Graduate School, who will seek the approval of the Graduate Council.
