A research project is planned in consultation with the major professor. No Thesis is required.
To be approved, research projects must be classifiable as historical, descriptive, experimental, or philosophical research. The research should be related to the primary area of the plan of study.
The student should be registered for EDCI/EDST/EDPS 697 credits while working on their research project.
The report must be prepared following the format and general arrangement proposed in the Manual for the Preparation of Graduate Thesis. The Manual for the Preparation of Graduate Thesis may be access at: http://www.gradschool.purdue.edu/downloads/FinalThesis_Manual9Feb07.pdf
The project does not require thesis format approval, nor is it filed in the Thesis Office. However, the major professor and all committee members must approve it. A copy of the research project should be provided to the major professor and all committee members. The project must be on file in the program office. (School Policy, 1989)
A Graduate School Form 8A "Educational Specialist Report of the Final Examination" must be signed by all members of the student's committee and indicate if the student should be awarded a degree. This form must be submitted by the deadline posted for each session's graduation. Graduation deadlines for each session may be located at: http://www.gradschool.purdue.edu/calendar/
Final examinations must be held before the last week of classes.
If the examination is unsatisfactory, at least one semester must elapse before a final examination is repeated.
