Description

Purdue University’s Department of Child Development and Family Studies (CDFS) is widely regarded as one of the leading departments of its kind. The Department is a multidisciplinary unit that contributes to the well-being of individuals and families through

the professional preparation of specialists at BS, MS, and PhD levels;
significant research on a range of critical issues facing individuals and families in today’s society; and
innovative outreach efforts that extend knowledge to policy-makers, employers, professionals, and citizens in Indiana communities and beyond.

Approximately 277 undergraduate majors and about 75 graduate students are enrolled in the Department as of fall semester 2003. There are 27 faculty and professional staff members and 17 secretarial and service staff members in CDFS. An additional 7 individuals hold adjunct or courtesy faculty appointments.

CDFS faculty, staff, and programs are located in two buildings on the west end of Purdue’s campus: Fowler House and the Child Development and Family Studies Building. The two buildings provide state-of-the-art facilities for research, teaching, and service activities, and are devoted exclusively to CDFS.
