Before the First Semester

Note: Receiving an evaluation does not guarantee automatic access to the teacher education licensure program of choice. Departmental jurisdiction grants faculty the privilege of reviewing students in a more comprehensive manner via a formal faculty review panel, following the receipt of an evaluation. A student taking course work before an evaluation is received does so at his/her own risk.

1. In accordance with the Graduate School Bulletin, applicants seek admission to the department or program of interest (see a or b below):

a. If the applicant seeks admission to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction or the Department of Educational Studies in the College of Education, then it should be noted if the application is a combined degree-seeking and teacher license application or teacher license application only.

b. If the applicant seeks admission to and is admitted by another department’s graduate program at Purdue University (e.g., Biology, English, History), then the applicant should seek admission to a teacher license classification (licensure only) status as a degree-seeking graduate student in another department.

2. Review by faculty review panel.
3. Notification of admission status.
4. Assignment to and/or guidance by a faculty advisor.
