Undergraduate student Kayla Neal receives Teacher of Color Scholarship

Purdue University College of Education undergraduate student Kayla Neal has been awarded the Janice S. Jones Teacher of Color Scholarship from the American Association for Employment in Education (AAEE).

A junior studying Elementary Education, Neal is actively involved in organizations across campus. She works on the Honors Leadership Council in the Honors College at Purdue representing the College of Education. She also works as an undergraduate researcher with a team focused on promoting educational equity through community-based organizations. She will graduate in the Spring of 2023, after which she plans to stay in Indiana to inspire a love for learning within her future classrooms.

The Janice S. Jones Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Janice Jones, former President of AAEE. The scholarship fund that bears her name exists to carry on her tradition of excellence in education and leadership. Its goal is to support emerging educators who have demonstrated promise and commitment.
