REAL TALK Thursdays

Our action forums are designed to create a space of inclusion and collaboration that will increase the levels of cultural competency, sensitivity and awareness of students in the teacher education program with Real Talks on issues of Education and Diversity.

Learners will:

  • Explore the intersections of education and diversity
  • Engage in conversation that will encourage self-reflection and evaluation
  • Challenge and evaluate stereotypical thoughts and behaviors
  • Identify ways in which we can build a more culturally competent teacher education workforce

Talks are open to ALL Teacher Education student majors and will occur on the third Thursday of each month with the exceptions of May, June, July, August, and December.

Our next TALK is scheduled for November 15th 2018 at 5:30 pm in BRNG 1245.

Past Talks:

  • September: Identity Exploration
  • October: LGBTQ Parent Panel

For more information or if you are interested in facilitating a talk, please email Diversity Initiatives Director.

Topic Proposals should be brief and include the following:

  • Topic
  • Learning Outcomes
  • Month preference if applicable

We look forward to creating a space of Challenge, Support and Learner Empowerment at Real Talk Thursdays!
