Recruiters want to hire our graduates because they know we train quality teachers. Representatives from more than 50 school corporations across 13 states attended our 2015 job fair.

There is a documented, very real need for teachers across the nation.

  • The Hoosier Hot 50 job list ranks K-12 teachers as the second most in-need job in Indiana.
  • There is an especially high need for teachers in urban and rural school districts and in high-demand fields such as family and consumer sciences, math, science and special education.
  • Officials predict a 10 percent increase in available teaching jobs in the next 5 to 7 years.

According to a Purdue survey, 97.8 percent of our graduates were employed within six months after graduation. Here’s our advice for setting yourself apart from other aspiring teachers:

  • Work hard in your courses and get the best grades possible.
  • Get involved in student organizations and the community.
  • Make a good impression while in the schools for your field experiences.
  • Network every chance you get.
  • Present your Purdue degree proudly to potential employers.
  • Use all the resources available to you at Purdue (i.e. Center for Career Opportunities).
  • Be persistent.
