General Youth Program Questions
For specific program-related questions, please refer to the Super Saturday, Super Summer and Summer Residential pages.
Only first-time applicants to the Summer Residential camp for 5th – 12th graders submit qualifying documentation. Our Super Saturday and Super Summer camps are open to all students who are highly interested in the class topic they select and are ready for a challenging learning experience.
A limited number of partial scholarships are available for children who qualify for free and reduced lunch programs in their schools. The application for financial aid is included with registration, and documentation of need should be submitted at that time.
Our classes are designed to engage children in interactive, hands-on activities that challenge them to think critically and creatively. Our goal is for children to think like professionals in the field being studied. For instance, if your child is taking a chemistry class, he/she will not be listening to lectures about chemistry but will be asking questions and making discoveries while performing tasks chemists would do – with age-appropriate modifications, of course.
If your child is struggling in class because he or she finds the content too easy (bored) or too hard (overwhelmed), please share your concerns with the instructor and the program coordinator. We work with our instructors to differentiate the curriculum in an effort to meet the needs of our students.
Exceptional teachers are the cornerstone of GER2I student programs. We hire certified classroom teachers, professors, pre-service education teachers, graduate students, and experts in their fields to work with GER2I students. Qualified applicants will have a passion for working with gifted children, providing them with unique educational and socio-emotional experiences that emphasize critical and creative thinking strategies in order to meet their academic and affective needs.
Go to the GER2I youth programs’ website for employment opportunities and application links. Once you have submitted your application, one of our staff members will contact you to schedule a face-to-face, phone, or Zoom interview. Be advised that GER2I will conduct background checks and search sex offender registries.
Once we review all application materials, you will be notified via email of your child’s acceptance and class enrollment(s). Keep in mind that as the program start date approaches, some classes may be filled to capacity and others may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
GER2I instructors come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, including professors, graduate students, and K-12 teachers with licensure and/or experience teaching students with high ability.
We strive to offer a balance of STEM and humanities courses and look for cutting-edge topics that we believe will be interesting for students. Courses are chosen based on instructor proposals, content area coverage, and previously successful courses
First of all, thank you for any financial assistance you might provide. Please contact the GER2I main office at (765) 494-7243 or by email for more information about how to make a donation.
