Program Overview
Fall Super Saturday
Fall Super Saturday is a unique program for caregivers and their children with classes designed to nurture positive interaction and connection. Teachers will encourage caregivers to follow their children’s lead during learning activities. Not only will your child be challenged academically, but caregivers will also gain insight into how their children approach learning something new and solving problems in their own ways. Two Saturday sessions are offered. Join us for one or both!
Registration opens in late August each year.
Spring Super Saturday
The Spring Super Saturday program is a program designed to meet the needs of academically, creatively, and artistically talented children from kindergarten through 8th grade, with class content at least two academic grade levels above the child’s current school grade level. The Spring program is an opportunity for children to explore advanced material and develop critical and creative thinking skills while forging new friendships and exploring their interests in a hands-on and minds-on way.
Registration opens in November each year for a late January start.

Frequently Asked questions
We offer two Super Saturday sessions during the school year: one during the fall semester and one during the spring semester. The fall session is held on two Saturdays anytime between late September to early November. The spring session is held in six consecutive Saturdays beginning in late January and runs through the first Saturday of March. Super Saturday classes meet from 9:00 a.m. until noon.
A child does not have to have been officially identified as gifted or high ability by the school corporation to participate in the Super Saturday program. Children who excel in our program have a passion for the class topic they’ve selected and a desire to learn.
The University Street parking garage is across the street from Beering Hall, where classes take place, and parking is free on the weekends. If you would rather not cross the street with children, handicap accessibility is available in the tunnel that connects the garage to Beering Hall at the basement level. This is convenient for families with younger children and/or families with strollers.
In the fall, a Purdue home football game may interfere with parking. We will do our best to avoid these Saturdays.
We reserve a classroom and serve coffee for parents who’d like to stay in Beering Hall. The first week we have a parent meeting with information about the Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute’s mission and youth programs. Beginning the second week, we provide a featured speaker who will share information and answer your questions about specific topics related to the education and development of gifted children. You are also welcome to explore Purdue’s campus.
