Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Family and Consumer Sciences Education

The Doctor of Philosophy degree is research-oriented and requires a dissertation. Programs require a minimum of 90 semester hours of graduate credit beyond the bachelor’s. All doctoral programs must include at least five advanced graduate courses in statistics and research methodology. Course work must be completed within five years. Doctoral candidates complete oral and written preliminary examinations and independent research which culminates in a dissertation. Specific course requirements to be determined with the student’s major professor and/ or committee.
