You will complete the LVIS application for the appropriate license, list the licensure area(s), and select Purdue University as the recommending institution.
We recommend that all initial instructional, administrative, and school services candidates wait to apply for their license until after program completion. Licenses are not issued prior to your graduation date.

Candidates may request a letter of eligibility verifying pending licensing. The letter will be emailed as a PDF directly to the candidate. Please send the request to email@example.com.

All candidates for an initial teaching license are required to satisfy the Basic Skills Competency Assessment, Pearson Content Test(s), and Developmental Pedagogy test requirements prior to licensing. For testing information and study materials, click here. Initial instructional candidates will be invited to attend a Teacher Licensing meeting the semester of their student teaching. Assistance will be given on the application process.

Purdue will make the recommendation for licensing after all coursework, grades and/or the degree have posted to the Purdue transcript and the Gate C or exit audit has been completed. This can take up to two weeks after graduation. Once the recommendation has been made by Purdue, the candidate will receive an email from the LVIS system. The license can then be downloaded and printed from the applicant’s LVIS account.
