Two College of Education student-athletes named Academic All-Big Ten

Two Purdue University College of Education undergraduate students have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom. Special Education student Lourdès Myers (left) and Elementary Education student Maddie Schermerhorn (right) are both members of the Purdue Volleyball team. 

For the third year in a row, Purdue Athletics set a department record for Academic All-Big Ten honorees from the fall sports season with 107 Boilermakers recognized for excelling in the classroom.

Purdue set department records during the 2020-21 school year with 96 fall Academic All-Big Ten honorees, 256 overall Academic All-Big Ten honorees and 85 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten, student-athletes must be enrolled full-time at their university for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Big Ten Distinguished Scholar recognition is based on a 3.7-plus yearly or cumulative GPA for sophomores and above.
