Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I am very passionate about the fact that children and young adults did not get to choose the position their life is in if it is affected by their parents/guardians. I believe that each child is deserving of the same or very similar opportunities because they did not choose their background, and it is important to me that teachers recognize this and do not discriminate against those who are not as fortunate.

Why did you choose Purdue?
I chose the Teacher Education program at Purdue University because it offered me the most immediate and unique classroom experiences that I could find, and experience—especially this early—is invaluable.

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I chose to be a teacher for many reasons, but the biggest reason was so that I could leave an impact on children as most of my teachers have for me. I think it makes learning so much more enjoyable when you have a great teacher who you can look up to as a role model and count on.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
I chose Purdue University because of the campus and location. I felt like I wanted to stay close to home so I could continue volunteering at the schools I have worked with and translated for back home.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
I chose the College of Education at Purdue University because at the Purdue’s For me program, I felt that this college had a “small school feeling” where it was easy to get to know people. My school had less than 700 students so coming to such a big university felt overwhelming until I seen that I could still have that community feeling at the College of Education at Purdue.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite memory at Purdue thus far would probably be all the time spent with new friends. Even though I did have a few friends from my high school coming here, I’ve branched out and met some great people. Whether it’s making ornaments together around Christmas time or them visiting me at my first college Dance Marathon, I love being around them and seeing them every day. They make Purdue my happy place. My favorite memory at Purdue so far is Boiler Gold Rush. The week was full of fun activities and I was able to make friends from the start! It was a blast and really prepared me for college in certain ways.

Why do you want to become a teacher?
I’m extremely passionate about teaching. I have always loved learning from my students and helping them achieve their academic goals. I believe that each child is special and unique in their own way, and that they each deserve a chance to be the best they can be.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
Purdue’s College of Education is not only extremely reputable, but it also offers multiple opportunities that many other schools don’t. It has many teacher integration opportunities, as early as Freshman year, and there are multiple study abroad programs specifically targeted for Education undergrads. It is also a warm and inviting place full of people who are passionate about their craft.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite Purdue Memory, happened when I was given the opportunity to proxy in the Purdue Student Senate. I really enjoyed the opportunity to discover the inner workings of Purdue student government. The topics that were discussed, were important issues that effect the entire university. I absolutely recommend being involved in Student government!

Why do you want to become a teacher?
I have wanted to be a teacher since 2nd grade. My teacher in 2nd grade opened my eyes to a whole new perspective on teaching and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else in life. I love the impact you can make on a young learner that can change the way they look at school for the rest of their life. I want to make an impact on students in and out of the classroom and I want students to be able to see the fun in learning.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
Purdue has always been my dream school and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else. Once I looked into Purdue’s College of Education, I knew it was the right fit because I wanted to go to a big school, but I wanted to be in a smaller college. Purdue gave me the big school environment with a small college.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite Purdue memory is the Purdue/IU basketball games. I go every year and the Purdue basketball games are one of my favorite things to do on campus.

When I visited Purdue, I felt comfortable on campus and felt as though I could fit in as a student here. I felt like Purdue would provide me with the greatest happiness and opportunities out there, and I was right.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
I choose the CoE because I have always had a passion for Education. Purdue’s College of Education offers non-licensure degrees which were perfect for me as I knew I did not want to be a teacher, rather a school counselor.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite memory was the Homecoming Football game in fall 2016. My mom, a Purdue Alumni, came and we got to experience the game and Purdue together.

I chose teaching because of my love for children and for helping others. I want to positively impact the lives of my students and set them up for success in their lives. Why did you choose Purdue University?
I chose Purdue because of the atmosphere of the College of Education. I love the feeling of a small college within a huge university. The College of Education is a tight-knit community, and I love being a part of it.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
I knew that Purdue’s College of Education was for me because of the early field experience. I was in a classroom my first semester and you can’t get any better than that. It gave me a reason to be excited about classes each week, and to make sure that I really did want to teach elementary age students.

Why do you want to become a teacher?
Every since I was little I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher to make a difference in the lives of children. In elementary school, teachers are setting a foundation for students which influences their learning for the remainder of their life. I have had many amazing teachers throughout my life that have shaped me into the person I am today and I cannot wait to have the opportunity to have a similar impact on my future students!

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
Purdue really stood out for me in the College of Education because of their classes and their early field experiences. Almost all of my classes are directly related to teaching, which allows me to jump right in to what I really want to be doing, not taking classes that don’t apply to my future. I also really like the smaller size of the program, allowing me to make closer connections with students and professors.

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I chose teaching as a career because I believe that teachers have the ability to make the greatest impact on a child through education. As a future teacher I want to be able to not only teach students about the basic curriculum, but also about life skills that they could potentially use in their futures.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
When I first visited Purdue it instantly felt like home, and I knew that this was where I was meant to be.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
I visited several other schools, but none of them compared to Purdue’s College of Education. The people within the College of Education had a passion for teachers that really showed. After visiting, I knew that this College would provide me with several opportunities to show, and further my passion as a future Teacher.

Why do you want to become a teacher?
I chose teaching because I want to inspire and instill passion within the world one child at a time. I want students to believe that they have the power to pursue their dreams and accomplish anything that they set their minds to. Sometimes it only takes one teacher to make an unimaginable difference in the life of a child.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
The College of Education is such a tight knit community that I was excited to be a part of. I’m able to travel through the program with all of the friends that I’ve made. I know that with the College of Education come familiar faces due to the college’s smaller size. I enjoy having the benefits of a larger campus, yet still being part of a small community.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
The summer after my freshman year at Purdue I was able to study abroad to Honduras during Maymester. Teaching within the schools was an amazing experience and I was so thankful for the bonds I was able to make with the kids. In the evenings, I was able to spend time with the girls who went on the trip and experience more of the culture of Honduras. The trip will always be one of my favorite memories while at Purdue.

Ever since elementary school I always loved playing “school” and being able to help others. When I reached high school and had amazing teachers I knew I wanted to be an ally for students and to inspire and engage students in their learning.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
I am a 3rd generation Boilermaker, and initially when I was applying for schools, Purdue was not my top choice. When I came on a campus tour I saw myself succeeding and making Purdue my home for the next 4 years.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
When I came on my campus tour I was able to meet with a College of Education advisor, and I was excited to see my major would be focused more on content rather than taking all education and curriculum classes for four years.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
Anytime I was with my secondary education learning community, we had the times of our lives. We bonded and formed friendships that will last and I would not have had such a great experience at Purdue without them. One particular favorite memory is we all made and brought in Thanksgiving food and had a “Friendsgiving”, and two of our TA’s even came!

Why do you want to become a teacher?
I want to become a teacher because I did a cadet teaching program in high school and just fell in love with the profession. I definitely love kids, so I’m excited to be able to work with them everyday. And if there is one thing that I learned through that program, it’s that as a teacher, you learn as much (if not more) from your students as they learn from you, which I think is pretty cool!

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
I chose the College of Education at Purdue because ever since my oldest brother came here, I’ve always known I would be a Boilermaker one day. I am so happy to be a part of the College of Education because the entire college is focused on giving us all of the tools and experiences we need to become wonderful teachers one day. All of the different courses offered are relevant to the majors and the professors truly care about seeing you do well!

I chose the College of Education at Purdue University because of the amazing opportunities for studying abroad and field experiences in local classrooms.

My favorite Purdue memory was how shocked I was when I realized how much my professors genuinely cared about me. I have heard many stories about college professors with unreasonable expectations from their students but all of the professors I have encountered in classes specific to the College of Education are very caring because they are passionate about both the subject they are teaching and being an effective teacher to their students.

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
When I first moved to America, I knew very basic English. It was especially difficult having to start first grade and not being able to communicate with other people in my class as well as the teacher. I had a very good ESL teacher who would help me with my school work, host events such as having college students come read to us, and I also had very understanding teachers throughout all of elementary school that would help me so I would succeed.

Teaching is a career that can impact a students in the most direct way. You spend 7-8 hours with them everyday. As a teacher, I wanted to give back the help and support I received into my future students so regardless of their backgrounds, they will be able to succeed and achieve their dreams.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
When I was choosing schools, I knew Purdue was one of the schools I wanted to go to because of the lovely campus and vibe but ultimately it was down to financial aid. However, Purdue offered me a great financial aid allowing me to choose Purdue as my ultimate choice.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
I really liked the program. When I was looking through the plan of study, I saw classes like ‘Introduction to Teaching’ and ‘Multiculturalism in the Classroom’. I never would have realized these were some of the things teachers took–I assumed it was mainly learning different subjects. The biggest reason, though, in why I chose the College of Education at Purdue was because of the field experience. Purdue allows first year students to be in a classroom and get a field experience even from your first semester at college.

I chose teaching to make an impact on other people’s lives. I had a teacher that helped me a lot in a struggle that I was going through and I want to be there to help someone else in the same way. I also really love the idea of being challenged every day to critically think and to word things in a different way.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
I chose Purdue because I loved the feel of the university. I enjoyed being able to talk to virtually everyone that I saw just on the street. It was shocking to me that everyone stopped what they were doing just to help me out.

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I have always loved working with children. Early on, I taught my stuffed animals, dolls, and little brother everything I was learning at school. As I got older, I was provided with lots of opportunities to work with kids and every experience solidified my desire to be a teacher and my belief that I belong in a classroom. I absolutely love it when a student conquers something that they’ve been struggling to understand. Something happens in their eyes when it clicks and it’s one of the best feelings ever. I want to spur students on to those “a-ha” moments where their hard work pays off and their passion for learning grows.

Why did you choose Purdue?
To start off, I absolutely love Purdue’s campus. It’s fantastic that I can get the Big Ten University experiences but the perks of a small college, like relationships with professors and opportunities for research. The thing that really sold me on Purdue is the early and consistent field experiences. Purdue makes it a goal to place pre-service teachers in the classroom with experienced teachers right from the beginning. The education classes are helpful and necessary but some of the most practical learning occurs in the field placements.

Purdue was a bit of a blind draw for me. I had never visited the school before choosing it, but I knew that it was closer to home and that a few of my friends were coming here. Needless to say, I am incredibly happy with my decision to come to Purdue and can not imagine having picked anywhere else.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite memory at Purdue would be Starry Night down on Chauncy. It was in the beginning of the school year, when new friendships were forming and we were still unsure about Purdue. Me and my group of friend decided to walk down to Chauncy and see why everyone was making such a huge deal about Starry Night. We had the best time! We drank coffee, listened to music, shopped around, talked about how great Purdue was, and simply enjoyed each others company. That night was the beginning of a great year with friendships and memories that are going to last forever.

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I have had some impactful teachers throughout my life that has taught me the importance of education and the power of knowledge. As a future educator, I can pass on the same lesson I have learned to my students.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
Purdue University has offered everything that I wanted and needed. Purdue is cheaper than most other colleges in Indiana, allowing low-income students like me to further pursue an education. Along with that, Purdue has allowed me to continue my passion of singing by being in the Purdue Varsity Glee Club where I receive scholarship, travel opportunities almost every week, and meet life-long brothers. Finally, most of my former teachers went to Purdue. All of them being fantastic educators, I knew Purdue’s education program would be the one for me!

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
The College of Education has the major that I’m currently pursuing (Social Studies Education). Along with that, the College of Education holds a number of great students all pursuing an education major, making it very easy to create connections, use each other as resources, and work together to become better educators.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite Purdue memory is singing on the stage of Elliot for the first time with my brothers in song back in August of my freshmen year. I had never been part of such an energetic singing group up till that point and it was an experience I will never forget.

Why do you want to become a teacher?
Ever since I was a child I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I always had a passion for helping others, and I loved to learn. I was able to see if being a teacher was what I actually wanted to do my senior year of high school. I was in the cadet teaching program at my school, and it was the best class I ever took in high school. It showed me that I loved working with children and helping them learn.

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue?
Purdue is a great all around school. The campus really drew me in, and I knew it was the one for me when I came to visit. I really loved the education program at Purdue because I loved the size of the classes. You have some big classes, but for the most part they are pretty tiny. I like that because it helps you to meet new people and helps you to connect with your professors better.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
Any basketball game. I love the environment Mackey has…especially the student section. It is always a good time, and I love doing it with my friends. My favorite game would have to be the one at Purdue against IU though. The environment was unbelievable and the Paint Crew definitely brought the noise, which I loved!

Why did you choose teaching as a career?
I love the idea of being able to work with and have an impact on young children in the classroom, a place where they spend a lot of their time growing up. I think it is really amazing that we as teachers are able to teach the minds of the future and hopefully help them develop and grow as they get older.

Why did you choose Purdue University?
I chose Purdue because it is a very well-established University that is relatively close to home, had a good reputation with the major that I was pursuing, and I knew a lot of people who had attended Purdue (my older sister a few years ago, and currently my older brother) and they had nothing but good things to say about the school. I have never once regretted my decision to come to Purdue!

Why did you choose the College of Education at Purdue University?
After my first semester of being in the College of Science for Math Education, I realized that I was more passionate about the Education aspect than I was the Math aspect and I made the switch to major in Special Education. Switching into the College of Education was a great choice and I have loved getting to know the people that I have met through it.

What is your favorite Purdue memory?
My favorite Purdue memory (so far) was the Old Masters Program.
